This guidebook is meant to be a hands-on, simple and natural guide to skin care using aromatic essential oils. It is not a surprise that natural skin care is more than skin deep; it starts with good health on the inside, which this guidebook also addresses. The anti-aging movement has brought about a tremendous awareness in utilizing a natural approach to preventing the signs of aging. We have, more than ever before, the means to maintain optimum health and beautiful youthful skin. You have the means to slow down your biological clock. I began this guidebook out of my greatest desire to help others. I enjoy educating people to enable them to improve the quality of their lives and to reach their highest spiritual potential. Over the years, in my holistic private practice, I listened to many women complain of various ailments, emotional stress and skin related problems. So many of my clients were unaware of the toxic, harmful chemicals they were using topically and in their homes: nor did I until I became ill. The unregulated cosmetic and personal care industry has left us with a complex chemical soup devastating to our lives and our environment. I discovered through my own ill health with environmental allergies and chemical sensitivities the importance of using (and first finding) organic, clean, pure personal care products, household cleaners, food and water. My doctoral research on `Brain Allergies' (the influence of toxic chemicals, food, and air directly affecting the brain) led me to a greater appreciation and understanding of the Body, Mind and Spirit - the totality of our planetary environment. With knowledge, you and I can create a better world around us. Let's Face it; we can look younger too! In conducting several Aroma Facial-at-Home-Spa workshops over the year, it became quite clear to me the power that these essential oils have for women in "Saving Face". While essential oils can be used in a variety of ways, even for electromagnetic smog (see my book on "Electromagnetic Pollution") I have focused on one area - The FACE! Writing this book and conducting my facial workshops has allowed me just to have fun with the essential oils, unlike my more intense nutritional, spiritual and emotional work. My latest study of aromatics in mental-emotional and health care over the years has awakened a deeper reverence for me for Mother Nature's inherent wisdom. I feel blessed to have found these true organic, chemical-free essential oils, which was not an easy task to do and hence I take great pleasure imparting information about Young Living Essential Oils. The Young Living company is one of the few companies in the world that offers a wide variety of pure, organic (solvent and chemical-free distillation), therapeutic Grade A essential oils that can be obtained personally at wholesale. Young Living has one of the highest standards in the world. They have all their oil samples sent to two or up to five, independent laboratories for testing, to be sure that they confirm with the International (ISO) and (AFNOR) standards for therapeutic-grade essential oils. The AFNOR (French Association of Normalization) standards state the percentages for the presence of constituents in an essential oil to qualify as true therapeutic-grade. Never have I encountered a company that encourages its distributors/members to visit their organic farms (I have visited three of them) to become 'in-touch' with and become 'touched-by' the plants and the land. I've had the greatest pleasure in meeting Gary Young, President and founder of Young Living Essential Oils, and his wife Mary Young. I have been privileged to see the farming process from field to final product. I have also had the opportunity, and great honor, to travel with the Youngs. I consider both Gary and Mary as my dear friends and Kindred Spirits. I have marveled at Dr. Gary Young's dedication to commune with the Nature Spirits (the animals. the land) before planting and cutting the trees. He has developed strict organic farming practices. They use absolutely no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or agricultural chemicals of any kind in cultivating their crops. Instead, a natural blend of oregano, cinnamon, and thyme is used for pest control. Dr. Young starts with building the soil before planting by using a combination of minerals, organic mulch, manure and enzymes. He owns and operates the largest privately owned organic herb farm in the world for distilling essential oils. I feel deeply touched by the honoring that is given by Gary Young and company to the plant kingdom.
